Forests are a carbon sink that mitigate global warming

Global climate change is manifesting in global warming. In Collserola, the Fabra Observatory has observed an increase in temperature of 0.14ºC every 10 years. CO2 is one of the main gases causing this global warming. The forest areas of the Sierra contribute to fixing the atmospheric CO2 and thus mitigating this phenomenon. In fact, it is the most important carbon-absorbing sink in the entire metropolitan area of Barcelona: they accumulate more than 260,000 tons of carbon and absorb more than 40,000 new tons of CO2 each year.

- The risk of forest fires is very high in Collserola! It is forbidden to have barbecues or create fires outside the allowed spaces or periods of time.
